National Youth Championships May 2012.

Best of luck to Anthony Coyle and Louise Donohoe who are taking part in the National Youth Championships (U18 All Irelands) this weekend (18th – 20th May). Geesala will be hoping to add another two titles to the collection of six we got a month ago by our fantastic ladies. Louise will be going for her 8th title at the weekend, which is outstanding as she is only 16 years old. Anthony will be aiming for his 7th title. Anthony missed out last year on his title due to injury, but this year he is back fighting fit and is out to get his title back where it belongs in Geesala. At the moment there are two entered at Louise’s weight 60kg and there is nine entered at Anthony’s weight 75kg. We wish them both all the best for the course of the championships.

National Cadet Championships May 2012.

Hard luck to Matthew McDonagh and James Carolan in the cadet championships in Dublin on Friday last the 4th May 2012. Matthew and James both were defeated in the National championships a few weeks before this and had came back to training to have a go at the cadets. This is both of the boys first year boxing in the National Stadium and they have gained valuable experience from these Championships. Unfortunately they didn’t get any decisions but this experience will stand for them in further competitions. They have both had a very successful 2011/2012 season and should be proud of themselves. Well done boys from everyone in Geesala boxing club.

All Ireland Championships April 2012.

What a fantastic weekend for Geesala Boxing club. If three titles the weekend before wasn’t enough, another three were taken in the National Stadium on Friday night the 27th of April by the Geesala girls. Ciara Ginty, Shannon Timlin and Louise Donohoe took away three hard
fought titles home to geesala. The three contests were very entertaining with everyone biting their nails at the final bell, awaiting to hear the judges decision. The club went to
Dublin with 7 potential title hopes and came home with 6 titles leaving it very
close to taking 7. Congratulations to all the girls from Geesala Club on a
wonderful History making feat.
