Ginty Vs Whitwell (January 2012).

Picture
In England over the weekend Ciara Ginty had an excellent contest against Shona Whitwell. Ciara boxed very well and we thought she had done enough to take the bout, but the hometown girl had her hand raised. At the end of the day it was a great contest for Ciara and will benefit her in her up-coming championships. Well done to all Geesala boxers who boxed over the last two weekends.

Ciara Ginty Travel's to England (January 2012).

Picture
Geesala's Ciara Ginty travels to England this weekend to take part in the St Ives boxing tournament, where the cream of Britain’s boxing talent take part in an internationally flavoured show. Ciara, the current and three times Irish Champion, takes on the British Champion Shona Whitwell. Ciara has been boxing extremely well lately, and she is shaping up to be one of the brightest stars of our current crop of rising boxing talent. This contest against the British Champion will test her progress to date. All at Geesala Boxing club wish Ciara the very best of luck.

Mayo Schoolboy Championships 2012.

Mixed fortunes at the Mayo's over the weekend, on the Saturday, Oisin Lally was first in but due to having the flu all week wasn't really firing on all cylinders losing out to eventual mayo champ from Ardagh, James Carolan and Danielle Ginnelly gave their all but lost out in two very tough contests, Tommy Doherty had a great win against Leonard of Ardagh, these boys have met a few times but Tommy was o...n fire and ended up having his hand raised after three action packed rounds, Mike Doran boxed extremely well against his experienced Castlebar opponent, only losing out by a narrow margin, seeing as this was only his third time in the ring it was an excellent performance, and he is sure to improve for the upcoming Connacht's. Matthew McDonagh was next into the ring, with only having a limited amount of time to prepare for his contest, Matthew started a little slow, and was behind after the first, but he won the second 6-5,and drew the third 3-3,losing to Nash of Knockmore, whom Matthew defeated in the schoolboys. We will look forward to the Connacht’s to renewing acquaintance's with Knockmore's Nash, Darren Timlin met Cillian O’Donnell of Swinford, it was a great contest, after the first round Darren pushed forward in the second round and this paid dividends going ahead by three, Darren had an excellent third round but this wasn't reflected in the scores, but Darren can be pleased with his performance, and can look forward to another tough contest next weekend in the Connacht’s.
