contest against Philip maloney of the st francis club limerick, the st Francis
lad probably ahead after the first, Anthony stepped up the pace in the second,
and caught maloney with 3 and 4 punch combos, after a tough third, Anthony
finished the stronger to take the decision, all in all a great night for geesala

Girl 1/6 National Championships April/May 2012.

Picture
A weekend to remember was had by Geesala Boxing club on the 27th and 28thof April 2012. Rosie Conroy, Clarissa
Cosgrove and Tara Barrett captured three National titles.
On Friday evening the 27th of April, Rosie Conroy got the show on the road in the Girl 2 Semi-Final. Rosie applied the pressure from the start of the fight and her opponent Andrea Tracey from Gleann B.C was stopped in the first round (RSC1).Danielle Ginnelly then kept the fire going by also stopping her opponent Niev Flynn in the Girl 2 57kg Semi-Final. This was a (RET2) with the St Bridgid's club throwing in the towel as Danielle’s pressure was to much for Niev.

Girl 1/6 National Championships April/May 2012 (Finals).

On Saturday the 28th of April there was such a tremendous atmosphere in the National Stadium as all of the next generation of stars in Women’s Boxing waited eagerly for their All Ireland final battles.
Rosie got the day of to a start for Geesala Boxing club again. Rosie
was in the Girl 2 44kg Final against Jane Downey of Trojan Boxing club. Rosie
was on top straight away throwing some great combinations to the body and head.
The score was 16-6 going into the final round, and Rosie’s power became too much
for the Trojan girl as the referee stopped the contest in the 3rd round.
Next for Geesala was Danielle Ginnelly who was against
her opponent Abbey Commiskey of Ardnaree Boxing club in Ballina. This was the
Girl 2, 57kg Final. This all Mayo battle was judged as the best Girl 2 Final of
the Championships. Danielle was on top for the first round, while Commiskey
pulled it back in the second round. It was all or nothing in the third round for
the girls. They both gave everything they had left in them until the final bell
rang. Unfortunately Danielle was out of luck as Commiskey had landed the better
punches in the final round with the end score being 15-10. Danielle should be
very proud of her excellent performances throughout the entire weekend.
Clarissa Cosgrove then entered the ring with the attitude
of a true champion. She was ready for this and wasn’t handing her title over to
anyone. This Girl 2 Final at 60kg showed some great shots from both girls.
Clarissa’s fitness got her through the last round very well as she out done her
opponent on an 11-6 scoreline.
And last but not least for the Geesala Team was Tara
Barrett in the Girl 2, 63kg Final against Rachel Daly of Brosna Boxing club.
Tara made her debut in the Stadium and what better time but her All Ireland
Final. Tara boxed just as she was told to. She did everything perfect and came
out with an 11-7 win.
Geesala boxing club are very proud of all the girl’s over
the weekend and wish them well done once again on their All Ireland
Titles.
